Port Sunlight Wheelers
This is the online home of Port Sunlight Wheelers, a British Cycling-affiliated club based on the Wirral Peninsula in the north-west of England. Boasting seven decades of history, the Sunlight can count National Champions and Olympians among its former ranks and currently has more than 150 members of all ages and abilities. We are a friendly and all-inclusive club and have a range of group rides that leave the Eureka Cyclists Cafe each weekend. For more information, please view the Club Rides section.
Sunlight Club Rides
TUE
Tuesday Chain Gang
A fast-paced training ride that last between 90 and 120 minutes. Departs the Glegg Arms, Heswall at 6.30pm every Tuesday evening during the summer. This ride is both technically and physically demanding as it requires cycling close to the rider in front at high speeds. For this reason, it is recommended for experienced cyclists only.
SAT
Women's Ride 9.30am
Weekly women-only ride, straight-through usually with no cafe stop, although on occasion a cafe entices us in! The rides alternate between a steady paced, flatter ride of about 40 miles and a faster-paced, hillier ride that covers between 40 and 50 miles. Rides depart from Eureka Cyclist Cafe, Two Mills at 9.30am every Saturday. New riders should first try out the steady ride. Contact Nicky for dates and more info.
SUN
Club Ride 9.30am
A steady-paced, straight-through ride with no cafe stop (although some members do occasionally take a refreshment break). Usually between 60 and 70 miles. Departs Eureka Cyclist Cafe, Two Mills at 9.30am every Sunday. This is the club’s most popular ride and is an ideal introduction for potential new members.
SUN
Club Ride 10am
Slightly faster tempo than the 9.30am ride, and usually with more climbing, however, there is a cafe stop. Usually between 70 and 90 miles. Departs Eureka Cyclist Cafe, Two Mills at 10am every Sunday. This is our longest and most challenging club ride and is recommended for those who already have a good level of fitness.
