Sunlight Club Rides

The club has a selection of rides that suit a variety of abilities and age groups. These range from fast-paced training rides to slower social runs.

Most of our rides include a mid-point cafe stop, however, for those who prefer a ride that doesn’t stop, we have a “straight-through” run that gets back a little earlier than those with breaks. The Sunlight also has a women-only ride that leaves the Eureka Cyclists Cafe at Two Mills on Saturday mornings For more information on these specific rides, please view this section of the website.

To join us on one of our club rides, you can either contact us by email or simply turn up at the Eureka Cyclists Cafe 10-15 minutes before the ride is due to depart and introduce yourself to anyone in a Sunlight shirt.

If you would like guidance on ride suitability, please get in touch with us and we will be happy to assist.

Tuesday Night Chain Gang 6.30pm

A fast-paced training ride that last between 90 and 120 minutes. Departs the Glegg Arms, Heswall at 6.30pm every Tuesday evening during the summer. This ride is both technically and physically demanding as it requires cycling close to the rider in front at high speeds. For this reason, it is recommended for experienced cyclists only.

Women's Ride 9.30am

Two women-only rides, both straight-through with no cafe stop, held on alternate Saturdays to each other. The first is a steady paced, flatter ride of about 40 miles. The second is faster-paced, hillier and covers between 40 and 50 miles. Both rides depart from Eureka Cyclist Cafe, Two Mills at 9.30am.

New riders should first try out the steady ride.

Club Ride 9.30am

A steady-paced, straight-through ride with no cafe stop (although some members do occasionally take a refreshment break). Usually between 60 and 70 miles. Departs Eureka Cyclist Cafe, Two Mills at 9.30amevery Sunday. This is the club’s most popular ride and is an ideal introduction for potential new members.

Club Ride 10am

Slightly faster tempo than the 9.30am ride, and usually with more climbing, however, there is a cafe stop. Usually between 70 and 90 miles. Departs Eureka Cyclist Cafe, Two Mills at 10am every Sunday. This is our longest and most challenging club ride and is recommended for those who already have a good level of fitness.
